Uh-Oh...We Are A Bad Influence

This poor guy! I bet the Dressage people are cussing the Reining people's influence...

(Be forwarned the first bit of the video is the camera waving around...don't get seasick-LOL)

If you don't want to watch the whole thing...What's wrong with you?...No just kidding, if you don't want to watch the whole thing watch from 2:08 and then the very end...

Yea, cheering is a big part of reining...looks like not so much appreciated in the dressage. Oops!

Thanks, BEC, that totally made me cry. Brilliantly done! Kudos to Steffen, beautifully done!

And yes, dressage crowds are generally way too quiet.
I remember the Christilot clinic I audited, she encouraged all of us spectating to clap and cheer, to get the horses used to noises and appreciation!
It's good for dressage horses, to hear applause and encouragement!
I have a question re: the reining classes, but I should get t'a work.
Catch up with ya later..

You mean the canter pirouettes? They are different than a spin though.
Dressage shows are so uptight. If you cheer after a person has completed their test everyone glares at you.

Why not cheer? the horse and rider earned it , but I guess I am to much of a bumpkin!Lovely ride

No cheering?! BAH!!! What fun is it then? Best times are cheering your friends on and having them do the same for you. I admire dressage, but every rider I've ever met was a bit snooty. They probably think I'm a bit redneck :)

No Sydney-The horse spooking from the cheering which unfortunately mostly ruined his first pirouette and the rider waving them down and then at the end, his big almost bolt spook when everyone starts cheering.

Other than that, I thought it was a brilliant ride.

I remember the first time they had reining demos at the Equestrian games and the crowd was completely silent throughout the entire exhibition. The poor reiners left the ring wondering why everyone was so silent.

Sorry, not his pirouette, the cheering caused Ravel to break and lose composure when he came out of the 2-stride lead changes to bend around the corner. That's when Steffen waved them down.

LOL (btw, that lol sounded more like BWAhaha!) Give me a break! Your horse is competing at what level? And it cant handle a little cheering?! It is called hauling and seasoning your horse! So if you know you are competing for a medal in a stadium full of people maybe you should haul your horse out to place where they can get seasoned to different environments!

Oh... and not to pick on you horsemom but if they wanted to be true to miliary riding then should the horse not be able to handle a canon going off and a thousand angry screaming barbarians rushing the field? The idea behind these horses it to show absolute control... not absolute control ONLY when the environment is ideal.

Yeah, I don't understand the having to be silent thing. I guess I am so used to Arab shows, where in the English classes (saddleseat) the crowd goes absolutely crazy!! There is so much whooping and hollering to get those horses pumped up! They trot bigger the louder it gets!
I love dressage, it is amazing, but give me some loud, screaming, cheering fans any day!!

I've actually noticed that while its not common its also not unusual for the dressage horses to kinda "spook" as they ride to the exit. Maybe they were just so mentally wrapped up in their jobs that they startle themselves?

As for the crowd cheering during the performance, I guess we Western types are just a little too rowdy for the English lol

Pretty ride except for the spooks. I noticed at what I saw of the WEG dressage stuff, the crowds were cheering there. Maybe the dressage types are loosening up a bit.
