Back To Work

Alright, the rant from last week is over. I am done PMSing and back to my normal self. See, this blog is not really about stirring up any controversy. It's simply a way to let my long-distance friends see what I am up too. Along the way I have met some really cool new long-distance friends. Lucky me! Really, my evil twin Flo reared her ugly head and then left me with the aftermath-LOL. Sometimes she is just wicked!! Thanks everyone for the great comments...and I sure did find a couple of new friends to keep track of too.

But, it is Monday and it's back to work as usual. Today found me back at the ranch, whipping out those little odds and ends that Chris and I didn't get finished when he was here. Mom wanted the tractor back at her place, as we could get some rain and heaven forbid, the tractor gets rained on-LOL....
Of course, I had my hard working supervisor and the lapdog with me...
No, they didn't get to ride in the tractor with me! Good lord, I had my hands full with all of those levers and foot pedals. They spent the day directing me from the comfort of the air-conditioned pickup. Oh, the tractor has air conditioning, it just isn't as good as what the pickup has. Spoiled rotten dogs!!

Megan and her boyfriend spent the day working their little hiney's off, opening gates, chaining equipment and shoveling sand. Man, now I know why Chris only agrees to help when he gets to run the tractor. Just kidding honey... sort of...luv u...

For all that wanted to see the row of horse-drawn farming equipment...Here is some of it...

Okay, this one is not horse-drawn, but it's old as the hills too...
Don't ask, I don't know what it is exactly...some sort of a disk...thingee

This one is a horse-drawn planter...

And another horse-drawn...thingee...???

A plow, that used to be horse-drawn, but was modified to use behind a tractor...

Oooh, oooh...I know this one...It is a horse drawn corn planter!!!...

An original John Deere manure spreader...
NOT horse drawn, obviously-LOL

And a hay rake, that was horse-drawn, but modified to pull behind a tractor...
I can't begin to tell you how many hours I spent in the back of a pickup, dumping hay rows with this thing. Yep! A pickup! My dad would hook it to the pickup, one kid would drive and another would sit in the back and dump the rake. Hey, I got a pretty good tan one summer. I got the nifty idea to throw an old mattress in the bed of the pickup so I could lay down and pull the dump rope. It didn't work so good when I tried to lay on my back and do it. So I was only tan on my back and the back of my legs. What an dork, I was back then-LOL.

Oh, Train Wreck asked me about the trees...After all of that, the electric company never showed up and started chopping. I saw them headed south with their boom truck and wood-chipper, so I guess I am spared for a little while longer. Boy, they cut down some other people's trees though. I bet there are some pissed off people on the north end of town. :o
I got to looking around town and if they come in and cut everything down that they say they can...OMG...This town is going to look pretty naked. Maybe, they realized that and making another plan??...Nnnaaaa...They'll be back...Just like Flo-LMAO!!

Wow, that equipment is pretty cool. What are you going to do with it? It seems almost museum worthy! ;)

If you ever want to part with that manure spreader, let me know! We have one just like it. Can you check it and find out which one it is? SERIOUSLY! I’ll take it! And what is IN the manure spreader?

Here’s ours:

LOL-PG...the whole ranch is museum worthy, not all of it in a good way.

As for what to do with it?? I don't really know. The manure spreader and the rake are usable. The rest???
This winter the goal is to get all of the scrap iron cleaned up and hauled out. I will try to get everything functional, that I can and go from there.

Tiller-calling you now honey. Luv ya!!

Liz-That's a one way plow sitting in the manure spreader. We saved a trip by putting it in there-LOL. I want to get the manure spreader functional again, basically needs a new tire and some WD40 to start. If we decide we don't need it, I will let you know for sure. I don't like the thought of just scraping it.

K-LOL...The Red Dog keeps me in line, Ute...he is just about the love. They are no help changing a tire though, hehe.

So, my husband and I are planning our next summer trip to SD!! He was looking at some of those colts. :) I told him I could probably get ya to bid on them for us and then we could get it shipped down here. :)

That is a huge tractor and I am very impressed that you are driving it all around. I so wished I knew how to do that.

Love that old equipment. It's so neat that there is all that still there. Old farms are so neat.

What cool pics of that old farm stuff!!! Can you imagine doing it all by horse!?! Yikes, no wonder nobody was fat back then!

I love your red and blue cattle dogs! I have a blue that looks like your red (but blue lol). They both look so happy to be in the tractor with you.

Hey tree hugger! Glad to hear they passed on by! I love all your old equipment!! How awesome! You need to "arrange" it on your property in different areas. Then take pictures of all of them as the seasons change! See I have ideas rollin around up there! It's what I do with ours! Except right now weeds have blocked the view of my Horse drawn grader! Must remember to get the kids out there...another mudfest!

I must confess that I had no idea that SD was so beautiful! Maybe other parts are desolate, but your ranch is gorgeous!

That old farm equipment is cool! How many people can say that they still have original pieces of farm equipment...you might be sitting on a gold mine over there...lol!!!

Your dogs are cute. Is the one a Cattle dog and Border collie (or Aussie) cross? Great cross if it is :)

I know...you should let us all know when another big ranch sale happens and we can all come stay at your house...heeheehee!!!
Glad that you are feeling better!

Andrea you got it!

The Knutson's have a great idea-next fall everyone can head this way and camp at my horse and we'll hit the horse sales. What fun!! OMG-the locals would shit a brick-LOL.

TW-I just got it all cleaned out of the yard where it was "decorative"-LOL. I would like to put a couple of pieces back, but first want to build a slight mound, tarp it and cover it with rock so the weeds don't grow up. Rattlesnake heaven the way it was-ugh!

TK-Yes, Red Dog is supposed to be pure Red Heeler, but I suspect there is some Corgi in him. He was a rescue...owner was going to shoot him. Ute is 1/2 Border Collie and 1/2 Blue Heeler. He's an attention whore...loves anyone who will pet him.
They are good dogs. Spoiled rotten, fat, dumb and happy...just the way I like my animals.:)
