The Feet Feel Better

Well...Pulling his shoes worked to get him clocking again...

Problem is...He was running so hard, he forgot to set and turn the first barrel....and then he forgot to set and turn the 2nd barrel.

FML!!!

What is it with this horse????

Running past the first barrel put us out of the money immediately...but after he over-ran the 2nd barrel...

I just started laughing. I mean, what else do you do?

So I hi-ya'ed him and he set and turned right on top of the 3rd barrel.

Holy shit!

Moon, Moon, Moon...

What are we to do with you?

You are the biggest pain in the butt horse I have ever owned.

Moon was fairly mortified...Me?...I'm getting used to humiliation. ;-). It's standard practice for me to hang out outside the arena gate after our run and give Moon a minute to settle before I get off, loosen his cinch and pull his boots. He's trailer-sour enough without compounding it by heading back to the trailer immediately after a run. I like to get my horses to come back down and get mentally quiet before heading back to untack and hand walk them. Moon knows the routine, so he gets quiet very quickly after a run. He's smart like that ya know. LOL.

Not this time. Every time they opened the gate for another barrel racer, he was trying to charge back into the arena. It was not hard to figure out he wanted a do-over. I literally think he surprised himself with how hard he was running again and simply failed to gear down.

What a freaking dork!...

Well, four down and five to go...But at least he's running hard again. I doubt he will make the same mistake twice. He seldom does. He likes to invent new and interesting tactics at every opportunity, just to keep me on my toes.

What An Ass!!! LMAO!!!

Oh Moon! Well, it sounds like you got through the problem. Poor baby wanted a do-over - who wouldn't? I look forward to the next races, my spidey senses are tingling that something good will happen. Hooves crossed!

They sure do know how to keep us humble, don't they? Kat does it to me almost every chance he gets too, the little brat.

Sometimes all you can do is laugh it off. I know it gets old though and something's gotta give at some point. Maybe the horses will grow up in their old age...

CnJ-It does get old...but I've decided that Moon is just my guinea pig. There are some horses that no matter how talented they are...They just can't get/keep it together and it's just a non-stop roller-coaster ride.

The up-side is...At least I have a horse that has the ability...so there is potential to win.

The down-side is....His consistency is craptastic. Moon is his own worst enemy. He is too smart and thinks about things too much.

Granted, I have made a lot of mistakes along the way, but if Moon wasn't quite so smart/tricky...we wouldn't still be having problems. We would have just settled into a routine by now.

(shrugs)...It will happen at the least expected moment and I'll be like...Why was that so hard? LOL
