More Random Rally

Tuesday morning, My Honey and I headed out of the campground for breakfast and the obligatory ride to check out downtown Sturgis.

Native Outlaws...
You really have to click on the picture to enlarge it...this cracked me up.

The "Starboyz" put on a little street bike demo...

Wheelies, burnouts, controlled cookies(known as donuts to some) and when he burned the back tire off, he just threw the bike down and walked off...

Bikers learn young...

Here is that body paint you asked about Mikey...

They have gotten VERY strict on the "nudity" allowed on main street. But the campgrounds are private property so anything goes-that is where you will still find the wild and crazy things...like the guy who rode around NUDE! Oh yea, that was quite the sight. Couldn't get the camera out of Honey's pocket fast enough though-DAMN! Glencoe campground used to have a "nude parade" every morning. Yup! Lots and lots of people stripped down, jumped on their bikes and rode around in the buff-LMAO. Some you could appreciate, some you wanted to throw them a body bag-hehehe.
One year, Honey and I were camping, came out of the tent in the morning and there was a guy passed out in a lawn chair, sitting in the back of a pickup...he was completely nude. Talk about making ya do a double take. It was hilarious watching people walk by-do a double take and then whip out the cameras.

Me? This just happened to be the extent of my "rally wear" this year...
Darn the luck, I had the cutest lime green outfit-assembled to wear that evening and then the rains came. EVERYONE ended up bundled up and tromping through the mud. Watching Cheech and Chong do their comedy routine, which most of us knew by verbatum, from 1/2 mile away wasn't too thrilling and Billy Squire kind of sucked, in my opinion. My Honey and I went back to the tent, snuggled down and decided we would hit the Hills the next day.

I must be getting old...other than cruizing main street-which takes f.o.r.e.v.e.r...it's the same old shit year after year. The same vendors, in the same spots, selling the same stuff, at the same price.

We did meet tons of people though...that's always a given.:) Oddly enough, almost all of them were from British Columbia. Hey, you guys are really cool up there. We met one guy, drunker than snot, he was having a blast! Celebrating the fact that some old guy had just run over his bike with his "house on wheels" and totalled the bike. He was happy? Yea! Said he hadn't really liked that bike anyway and the insurance would pay better than the trade-in. WOW! Gotta love someone who looks on the positive side of things-LMAO!

While eating breakfast, we got to talking to two other guys from Canada-forget which part and they were so cool. Really, really down to earth guys-real bikers, one of whom was dying from cancer(his friend told Chris that is why he was so chatty with everyone). He didn't figure he would be around at this time next year and his only desire had been to make it to Sturgis...one more time! He wasn't sad though, said he lived a good life and enjoyed his time on earth. WOW! I have the utmost respect for people who know their time is limited and are going to enjoy every minute they can. That's the really, really interesting thing about Sturgis. It's a pilgrimage to a lot of people. It's a journey to a destination, where you know you will be part of a mass of like-minded people. You can go in a group or you can go alone. Inevitably you will meet people, make friends(if you want) and just fit in. Everyone is there for the same reason...to have a good time!

Sounds like a hoot. I understand about the same shops, same place, same prices deals. It's good you at least get to meet new and interesting people though. My hubby heard that they got golf ball sized hail there this past weekend or end of the week and that it damaged a lot of bikes. Were you there for that or hear anything about that?

I love the body painting too. I liked when they showed it on Girls Next Door at the Playboy Mansion. I think I have an issue of sports illustrated swimsuit issue where they sported paint instead of suits too. It's so neat.

wow that body paint. I had a lady wanting me to do that as I do professional face painting. I was a little creeped out, she was part of my mom and dads motorcycle club and older than both of them.

ezra-We were already home by then. This year, the weather was harsh. A 10-year drought and people forgot what the weather is really like this time of year in the Hills. I always wondered why they chose that week, as the weather is notorious for storms from the end of July through the middle of August up there.

Mikey-One year, I was paid to do a lingere show and walk around handing out tickets to that. Another year, I was paid to walk around in itty-bitty clothes and hand out beer tickets to a bar in RC. It's fun stuff. I've always wanted to do the body paint. Maybe next year.;) And you know you guys are ALWAYS welcome up here. We will hook you up-might cost you a spin on the stripper pole though-LMAO.
