Barn Pics

The ponies are blowing up like ticks. Even Moon is getting a belly on him...
COOL!!

Frosty is getting his pre-winter coat dapples...
Kinda hard to see in this pic I guess. But his neck and shoulders turn almost black and get huge dapples before he gets his winter coat.

Queen looks like she is due to foal soon(she is NOT bred-LOL)....
But she isn't about to share a bit of her grain with her roomies.

I was going to ride tonight but the BO was busy cleaning and setting up another dry lot....
I figured I could wait one more day before getting back into the swing of things.

He got the arena pretty well cleaned up though...

Prior to this guy buying the place, this was a nice show barn...
The little dude out front startles me every time I walk around the corner to turn the water on. LOL!

They don't use many of the stalls for horses. Several are filled with hay, some are filled with "stuff"...

This little beauty is a new addition since I kept horses here last fall....
Now wouldn't that be a fun little bugger to fix up and toodle around in?

I survived the first day at the office in pretty good shape. Nothing like walking into doing payroll the first day. We managed. For those of you who wondered...NO, those two women who thought they were all that last fall no longer work for us. Imagine THAT?! Getting rid of them didn't really have anything to do with the way they treated me...but it certainly brought their shortcomings to My Honey's attention. The Operational Manager that Chris hired at the beginning of this year is the one who got rid of them. One wasn't doing her job and the other was padding her timecard...and her husband's bonus'. No wonder they didn't want me around the office. I am replacing the OM-he got a job offer he couldn't turn down...and My Honey told him to go for it. Those are hard to come by in these tough economic times. He's still a good friend, so if we get really stuck trying to figure something out...Chris doesn't hesitate to call him up and ask. Gotta love that!:-)

Thanks for the tour!
Have to wonder though, if the BO doesn't have horses, or if the ones he has are basically retired, why did he buy a place like that? Mind you it all works out pretty darn good for you! lol
That antique car... I can just picture cruising around with the top down, a pair of killer sunglasses on and a scarf over the hair.

Nice barn and arena!! I wish my arena was bigger, but I can't complain, at least I have an arena now! Too small for barrels though :(
That is a sweet car!! Maybe you can talk the BO into fixing it up for you!!
That guy outside the barn would spook me too, I scare very easily!

Wow - big barn and arena - amazing to me to not use it for more horsey stuff, but that is just me! Sounds like it will work out well for you though! Lots of space and not too many people or horses (if any!) to get in your way!

Welcome back to the world of office workers! I'm sure working for the OH in your own business is a tad better than being a government drone, like me!

Glad those 2 ladies are gone, although, if they were still there it would've made for some interesting posts! lol

Oh that is NICE to ride and keep horses. Nice barn... nice car too!
Glad you're doing well at the office, that's great that you can step in. At least you'll be focused on the business at hand, unlike those other two ladies... crazy!

I just found your blog and love it. I like that everyone is fat dumb and happy! And I love that you live in SD because I have never known anyone from there but when I was there I fell in love with it! But you're moving to CO!? ANOTHER GREAT STATE!

It was my understanding that this place was a bank repo...pre-oil boom and the BO snapped it up.

I told him I have first dibs on buying the barn if he ever decides to take it down and put up the shop he was talking about.;)

Other than the nice barn, the place is quite ordinary for this little vicinity and works very well for the BO. He has room for his horses, his feeder cattle, a few butcher hogs, their chickens and they have a huge garden. Very self-sufficient people.

It does seem a bit of a waste, but they are such nice people. Way more happy to have people like these buy a facility than some developer-who would only tear everything down and put in 4-5 houses. I'm so tired of that happening to nice little ranchettes.

This way, if anyone ever comes through with horses, I have a great place to recommend for overnight or short-term stays!:)

Welcome BSB...don't worry, I'll still be going back and forth to SD. I can live anywhere...but that is HOME!

I am glad work is working out!! And I am glad those two girls are gone, they sounded horrible last year!!

What a great place for your horses. They are looking great and that barn is fantastic!! I wish I had one like that. I could use some of those stalls. The arena looks like it's in pretty good shape being that nobody has used it in a while!!
