Ha, ha, ha...Or N.O.T.

It was so beautiful this morning. The sun was glistening off of the new snow, making it shine and sparkle like a field of cut diamonds as far as the eye could see. Sheez-get out the sunglasses already.

I had to run to mom's to put out a fresh bale...
The selection seems vast, but this is also the hay for the cows too, so we do have to be conservative. Before I could take care of that small chore though, I had to *gasp* pull out the servicing manual for the tractor. I'll let you in on a little secret...I have no idea of how to service a tractor. Thank god mom found the servicing book that came with it. Mom got a good chuckle out of watching me try find the oil dipstick. Uhhhh yea...this tractor doesn't have one of those. But hey, she didn't know that either, so I guess the joke was on her.

Instead of a dipstick, it has a button that you push. If a green light comes on, the oil level is fine. If no light, you need to add oil. It's a guessing game. How the heck are you supposed to know how much oil to add if you don't have a dipstick to measure it with? And the power steering fluid? No dipstick there either. Well, at least one like what I am used to seeing. Besides, it is in a tight spot to reach and is right next to a running belt. NOT a place you want to get careless. Guess what? The tractor needed both oil AND power steering fluid...and I don't have a clue what type to use. DAMN!!

So I made the ultimate decision...I went ahead and used the tractor, to move just one bale. Tomorrow morning I'll stop at the local Co-op and ask the mechanic what I need to top everything off and to make an appointment to bring the tractor to town to get it fully serviced. The guys will be using it to start feeding the cows soon, so everything needs to be in tip-top shape. Guess that means I will have to move to the BIG tractor for my chores.*Grin*

I love it when the snow lays on the grass like this...
It's fun to peek underneath and peer into the little caves it makes.

I wished I was a more knowledgeable photographer. The snow just glittered in the sun. However, I was not able to catch it in a picture...
Hey...
Darn dogs, they are only interested in playing tag. Can't they see that I am trying to be all artistic and stuff?

At least you got out the book and read it. I would have just tossed my hands up and called it done. :) The snow is really pretty. I too like the way it looks over the grass. And your dogs made me laugh.

You got some of the glitter in the foreground of that pic.
I love it when the snow is all sparkly and diamondy too (ummm, yeah those are words!)

Snow is so much more beautiful in pictures than in real life. GAH that looks cold! Bitter cold! Even more fun to mess with machinery! You are some kind of woman, seriously.

Yeah...dogs don't care about photography as much as we do, do they??? LOL!!!

Gotta love all of that snow...or not?

Love all that snow!! We need some of that really badly.

Your pics are great...let me know the secret of getting the glistening snow to show up in pics...I can't do it either!

Ooooh you get lotsa snow! We got snow last night. OK we got flurries last night and it'll probably be the only snow we'll see fro the next 10 years but still! I drove into work this morning (late as usual, my kid's teacher must hate me) and it's been soooo long since I've done an oil change in my car the oil light came on. I almost had a coronary, my car is an 06 and there's just no excuse for that! BTW the oil wasn't low, just so nasty black it wouldn't move and it registered as low for the oil detector in the car. I suck....

Aren't tractor's so fun? Our barn owner just called to see how much to get his oil and filter's changed, almost $700!!!! He was like HELL NO. He was just going to do it himself. He's much more mechanically inclined thank most others I'm sure with all his farm machinery. Good luck with that!

We got a light dusting of snow, but nothing near the pretty stuff you got. Our snow is mixed with decaying leaves the city doesn't pick up but has you rake to the curb to get blown around. I love you're pictures (dogs included). I think you do wonderfully as a photographer.

Pretty, pretty! Have to admit, I leave the tractors to the guys. If they were OUR tractors, that would be different, but they're not, and they're also cranky & temperamental, and inevitably making some weird noise....

I fed last night by moonlight, and was it ever lovely. Cold, but beautiful - all glow-y with the moon so bright and all the new snow.
