The mares don't care...
Because all of the girls were more than just a touch over-weight(Think tubs of lard), we have been pulling old hay out of the stack yard and unrolling the bales until we get to nice hay. The good stuff then goes in the bale feeder. The diet is working too. Nearly everyone has lost the great gobs of blubber that have plagued them. This might be the first time some of these girls have had anything resembling a girlish figure for many years.By the time the guys got the waterer installed and we made sure the horses could drink from it okay, the snow was coming down in huge, wet flakes. It looked like the sky was dropping goose down on us. I love these kinds of snows. They are rare in this part of the country. Usually snow is accompanied by frigid temperatures and/or miserable wind.
Chores done, it was time to head back to town...
It is definitely time to get my Christmas decorations up...I'm late this year. The weather has been just a bit too nice to really put me in the mood to do it. I'm in the mood now though.;-)

Wow look at all that white stuff! I have yet to put up our lights or anything Christmas-y. Of course we're in the sunbelt, it doesn't get snow here...
I love big wet snows like that too. We have had our Christmas lights on the front of the house since October! But only the horses and deer see them. Well, we do too. They make fantastic night lights when we are out late which is never!
L o o k at that butt!!! LOL love stock horse butts LOL.
We may have snow by the weekend~ snow level is susposed to come down to 200 feet. to bad we are at like 96 feet LOL but we usually get it when it comes that low.
Its true, if you live in a part of the country that gets snow it just feel Christmasy until you get it!
Studies have even shown that during holiday shopping season there are less retail sales when there is less snow.
gotta love tough horses that can handle soem snow!
the wet snow is a bit of a break from the cold dry winds that usually accompany our snow here (which is going on as I type this...)
But I love the chubby ponies!! And look at that snow! It's crazy!!! And I do believe you cat has the right idea.
And don't worry about decorations, we just put a tree up last night.
We usually wait to put up Christmas decor and get a tree until after the 11th. So we'll be getting ours this weekend. Otherwise the tree dies before Christmas and as the kids are pulling out presents, the needles get all over the place. Then we usually take it down the weekend after Christmas. My sister starts sending out christmas cards the weekend of Thanksgiving. I think THAT is a tad early.
I agree with it not feeling Christmasy without snow, especially here in NW Ohio. It always seems to go over or under us.
We got hit with it last night! Now everything is so beautiful in the sun! My girls are tubs of lard too. One is preggers though so no diet for her until I wean. The other is rode regularly and doesn't get much to eat, but she's part mustang so I think she gains weight by looking at things...
SnoW!! Oh My! The only snow I see is up near the Nevada border- if I am coerced into making the drive with promises of hot buttered drinks and gambling machines and shopping Cowboy style in Reno. Brrr!
The horses don't seem too concerned- and my Daddy always said Fat was a good color on a horse.
if the white stuff was the sign to put up our xmas decor.. would have been up first week in october :)
looks like the girls will be svelte by xmas
gp in montana
LOL! Look white stuff! Just had a cold front blow in tonight!
The cat has my vote!
mmmm I am so jealous! I could go for a good snowfall right now instead of this wet depressing rainwe have been plagued with...
