It Must Be The Season...

Seems everyone is camera shopping...and so am I!! I can't get Megan's digital camera to work anymore. Crap, crap, crap!!! The lens was getting sticky and now it won't do anything. I can't get it to turn on or show pictures or even beep.
Chris bought the little Samsung for Megan last year because she loves to take pictures. Well, after I started my blog...I got hooked on taking pictures. Now I feel lost without a camera.

As in...today I was headed to mom's to dump the pickup load of yard cleanings and there was a huge snapping turtle on the road. I turned around to shoosh him off the road and no camera to take a picture of him. Damn it!! Tomorrow is the Homecoming Parade and no camera to take pictures...double damn it!! I got so used to pulling that little thing out and snapping pictures of anything that struck my fancy. I haven't told Megan that it is dead yet...she is going to be devestated.

I think I am going to buy a "cheapie" to replace this one, because I am pretty sure that hauling it around to the rodeos and horse shows with all of the dust is what ruined it. Still, a $100 bucks isn't exactly cheap.

Does anyone know if these cameras can be taken apart and cleaned? Not by me!! But do camera repair places work on them? And would it be worth it, dollar for dollar to try to get this one repaired vs. buying a new one?

Megan wants a "fancy" digital camera because she wants to go all "artistic" and stuff, but me I really liked the little Samsung that Chris had originally bought for her. It took nice pictures and videos and I liked how easy it was to enlarge and crop pictures right on the camera. That is about the extent of my photographic skills.

Until I get another one....I am either going to have to reuse pictures or go without. Man, I am gonna miss waiting for blogger to upload pictures(snark). Drat the luck!!

Try going to Stevesdigicam.com,
He reviews all cameras and gives pro/cons about them all- shows 360 degree views and even goes into real detail about the tech stuff if you want it. Then go to Pricegrabber.com and find out where to get the camera you like for a LOT less money. Thats where I got my $700 camera for about $500.

Get the best you can afford that will safely tuck into your pocket. The Panasonic Lumix line of cameras are good ones...they have Leica lenses. Nikon CoolPix cameras are also good.

My mom and I both have Cannons and love them. They're on the smaller side and as an added bonus are easy to figure out. Have a great weekend!

I have been eying digital cameras now for several years. The one I have is old and, by today's standards, GINORMOUS, heavy and noisy. I can't bring myself to spend the money on a new one #1 because my husband is out of work and I don't have it, and #2 this old Kodak still takes great pix and won't quit. Let us know what you get.

So timely! I'm getting really tired of only seeing half what I'm focused on (camera screen, not the world - although a case could be made... lol) and H is lobbying for a new camera as well. She wants a Canon, I really liked my Nikon Coolpix until Sunny dented it. It's too bad they don't have a borrow-a-camera program somewhere so a person could test drive one or two before buying!

Last year I bought a $120 digital and it was just okay. It took beautiful pictures and did everything I wanted BUT take pictures when you hit the button. It had a 5 second delay so when my dog or horse looked at the camera and had that perfect expression, by the time the darn thing actually TOOK the picture, they had moved. It drove me crazy. IT had something to do with having a lot of pixels but not having the juice to back it up? I dont know anything about that stuff, all I know is that all my animal pictures came out a blur. I had bought it from Costco (they will let you return anything and have good prices) so I did bring it back.

My mom has one that is amazing, a Nikon, but it was expensive.

I dont know if I would try to fix yours, give a repair guy a call and ask but I have found that when these things go caput, they are pretty much done. Good luck!

I had an Nikon Coolpix and it was great. I have a cheapy cannon and it's okay. I really want a digital SLR, but that is not going to happen any time soon. I do know that the Kodak easy share is nice and takes nice pictures. Good luck camera shopping. And a photographer told me that it isn't the camera it's the photographer.

bensbargains.net everyday he puts up the new deals of the day. Act quick though, those deals expire everyday. The good news is that there are a ton of camera deals that come up all the time. The digitals that sell in the $100 price range come up constantly. So go to the review websites, find which ones suit you then go to Bens bargains and find the best site that's running the deal on it and jump on the best price.

Thanks Michelle-I checked out bensbargains.net. That is a cool site. I looked at a camera they had listed and what I really liked is the review you can read about it. Very informational!!

I bought a new camera in May when I started my blog. It's a Cannon Powershot SX100 IS. I love it. Takes great pictures. It is easy to use like a point and shoot but with some additional features of a higher end camera. Found mine on sale for a little over $200.

good luck!

I love my Samsung S85. It is so compact I can put it in it's case and carry it anywhere. Saddle horn, truck, etc. I love having it and normally always carry it with me! I think I only paid $100 for camera, rechargeable batteries and carry case! I didn't think was too bad! If you go too cheap~the guy here said they won't last for what we do with them! LOL~! Good luck camera shopping!! Going to miss your pics!

Sometimes you can find a deal on e-bay or Craig's List. If it's going to have a rough life, you don't want to spend too much. Gadget Geeks always have to have the latest in things so they sell their old, perfectly good cameras for nothing.

I'd at least take the jammed camera to Best Buy or somewhere to find out if they can fix it. Turns out when my lens jammed it was still under warranty and they fixed it for free.

Hurry up! We need your photos!

Kodak easy shares are fantastic camers. I use mine all the time even though I have a very nice but pricey Canon 40D. I have photos from both on my blog and it is hard to tell the difference.
