More Than Horses Around Here...

Ah yes-it is that time of year again...the time of year when the horses take a back seat and some of our other critters get the chance to shine. 4-H Achievement Days has arrived and it is time to clean the cats up for their annual debut.

Baths are in order...
Your next Big Fuzz...

No wonder my house always has hair balls EVERYWHERE!!!
The safest spot to be when you are surrounded by strange people, animals and noises...
This is how you show a cat...
The judge couldn't help but remark on the length of Megan's cat...
Checking the belly...
Is it safe to come out?
This was NOT a happy cat...
Top Honors all around for Healthy Cat(although the judge remarked that my cat might be just a little too healthy-LOL) and Top Honors for Cat Showmanship. Do ya all get the feeling that we really like the Showmanship classes?? Oh come on...is it a bad thing to like to show off the animals that you love so much?Heeheee

Megan's Photography Exhibits...
All three exhibits earned Top Honors too. I wasn't kidding when I said that almost all of the good photos you guys get to see come from my little shutter bug. This was her first year in Photography, so we were really excited that she did this well.

Hey...the "pot" garden is producing....
Now why didn't I think to enter some of these guys in the open exhibit competition?....Oh yea...because they ended up in our tummies before you could blink an eye!!
They were Yyyuuummmmmyyyy!!

You are kidding, right? Y'all show CATS?

Guess there is NEVER a lack of things to do show-wise around your house! LOL

Lol, it's the POT GARDEN AGAIN!! That kills me, lmao!
Congrats, you girls are cleanin it up all over the place! Megan is a phenomenal photographer!
And the cats. I had no idea you got to show cats in 4-H. They didn't have that when I did it. Cool!

Hah-It's Chris' fault that Megan ended up showing cats. I point the finger directly at him-LOL.

It is so much fun to "torture" the cats with the show pose. Once they get relaxed, they are like a slinky. You can stretch them waaayyyyy out and then bring them back together, stretch them waaayyyy out and back together.
I know(I'm hanging my head in shame-LOL), we are sick in the head and easily amused.

Next year, I am going to make her show the dogs too-that ought to be a riot since both of them flop over for belly rubs whenever you touch them.

I love the County Fairs with the youth and 4H displays. I was in horse 4H and then my kids were in horse 4H. My daughter showed a pig once, but it was too hard for her to sell it at the end of the show.

Congratulations to Megan! That's exciting that she is into photography. My kids are interested in it too.

Congrats Megan!
Wonder how my cats would do? Lola is a Ragdoll, so she's kinda floppy. Hmmm... don't think the stretch out would work so great. Chloe is Siamese. The original "applehead" kind, not the angular more well known kind. She's very athletic and regularly kicks Lola's ass even though she weighs half what Lola does! lol

Oh goodness, you ladies have been busy!!
The show sounded like a great experience for Moon....good for you for going for it and doing SO well! There is more to a barrel horse than you think, you tell 'em!
P.S. I love how you call Megan's horse the "Berry Butt." ;)

That is awesome that you guys show your cats! My cat would be awesome in a show - except that he is too heavy (big-boned lol) to hold up like that!

It's nice to hear that the 4-H clubs are still going strong. There isn't as much of it here anymore.

Sounds like an interesting time at the horse sale too - I am envious of all of your horse knowledge and knowlege of people that have horse knowledge! lol. I need someone like you to help me find my next horse (not for awhile yet though). Althout shipping one to Canada might be tough... ;-p

Laura-While most people avoid the killer buyers, a lot of our family friends are traders that do ship horses. You want to talk about knowledgeable people...they know more about horses just from looking at them than most people do that have ridden the horse for months. If you ever get the opportunity to get to know someone like that, jump on it. Funny thing about these guys too...if you get to know them, they will never screw you on a horse deal either...it's sorta the honor among thieves mentality-LOL.;)

Hey did you miss me?...Did you notice I was gone? I love how cats just let you stretch them out!! Your many talents never cease to amaze me BTW!!
Congrats to the "Photographer!" Awesome, too bad someone didn't get a closer picture so we could see them!LOL!! Missed you while I was away!
