And So It Starts

With the new windows and doors due to arrive any day now, the carpenters came early to start tearing up the old cement slab in the back of the house...
Although the slab was cracked and heaved....it did not come out as easy as we had anticipated.

Whoever put that in back in the 70's intended for it to stay for eternity.

Eternity didn't happen!

With the help of a jackhammer, sledge hammers, pry bars, wire cutters and the bobcat. It's gone.

The parking slab in the front of the house was nothing compared to getting that beast of a patio slab out. Sheez!

I've been on a cleaning tear...aka...Terror!...and spent an entire day cleaning out the walk-in closet in the bedroom and the bathroom cabinets. Eight hours spent cleaning 3 rooms...What the heck?

Actually, I have a one year rule...If I have something in my closet, barring certain expensive or really dressy items...that I haven't worn at least once in the last year....

It's gone.

For the most part, I buy 2nd hand clothes and clearance items anyway, so I always figure I'd rather have a few items that I really like to wear and not have to dig through a bunch of stuff I'm not going to wear anymore anyway.

Lo and behold....

I actually got MH to go through his Harley Davidson shirt collection. The man has hundreds of HD shirts that he has collected from all over the U.S. and the world. He doesn't wear them much anymore though. I was finally able to convince him to let me wash them all up and seal them into airtight bags and store them...Not in the closet!

They were taking up 90% of his side of the closet and he didn't have room to put the clothes he actually wears away.

Needless to say...I am a happy camper about that little project finally being done.

Well, except for the fact I have about 10-15 loads of shirts to wash, dry, fold and get put in those bags and stored yet.

I don't want to waste all of this beautiful fall weather working inside the house, but I have to get a few projects done and stuff put away temporarily so the carpenters will be able to come in to fix the ceiling, build my book case and get new base board put up throughout the house. That will take care of all of the interior work, except the new lighting.

Boy, is it ever going to be nice to not look around and think...'I wished that was finished.'

Oh man, I'd give anything to have all the little projects here and there finished! Our old house needs so much done. Mostly re-do, but no time and no $$ *sigh* I'd love to get new flooring throughout...new carpet in the LR and wood or laminate (looks like wood) everywhere else. New paint would be nice...get the picture??
Here's my email for that recipe.
Thank you, I've got bunches of cherry tomatoes and that sounds soo good to me! cingspots@hotmail.com
My sun-dried tomatoes? sheeeit! What a disaster!!! Burnt the hell outa all of em - my oven is too hot and I used cookie sheets cuz I don't have racks...ggrrrrr!!!!
Anyways, if you have racks so the heat gets all around, try quartering average-sized tomatoes and sprinkle with salt and basil. Put in center of oven at no more than 150, lowest possible setting. Check often!!! (another mistake I made) It was supposed to take 18-20 hours, mine were burnt to shit in oh, about 7-8 hours!!! Anyway, when they're all chewy and rubbery-like, seal in freezer bags with all the air sucked out. Wallaa!! Piece a cake!! (hopefully) :)

I have a lot of projects I wish were done. One is my basement, but I also want a whole new house so not sure if it is worth fixing up yet. But I also want an arena so maybe I will fix up the house and live in it a while longer.

A clean closet would be a good feeling, not that I would know *o*

Love your header photo, such a pretty horse!

Oh I so hear you on the construction!! I feel like it is never going to end. But like you, when it is all said and done, I will look around my house and say "Yeah us!! It's done and we don't have to do anything for another 20+ years!"
I desperately need to go through all 3 bedroom closets, after the remodel. I do that once a year, but I always hang on to something because I just "might" wear it someday! Gotta get out of that mode! The less stuff the better!!

10-15 loads of t-shirts? Holy cow - what a collection! lol

We have a contractor coming in a couple of weeks to help with a bunch of those "just get it fixed already" jobs and then we have to repaint the main floor of the house. Can't wait to get going on it.

Hope you get some time to get out and ride those ponies! :-)

Just wait, when it is all done, something else will break, or you will change your mind about this color paint and it starts all over again... Never fails.

But it keeps us busy and busy is good.

Wanna come clean my house? lol
I have the same 1 year rule - especially since I do like to shop (when I have money)! For every item bought at least one has to go!
