My Daily Project

I finally found curtains for the dining room window...

I got those hung and the little red shelf to the right put up today...

I wasn't really interested in red curtains for the dining room, but I saw these a couple of weeks ago and they stuck in my mind. Since nothing else has, I guess that meant these were the ones. They do have a tan embroidered pattern in them, so it subtly breaks up the red.

I need to add a shade to the window too. This is a west facing window and I found out last summer, there is a lot of heat that comes through. I was going to go with the levelor room darkening shades like what I put in the bedrooms, but man 'room darkening' is no lie. Now I'm thinking light filtering. These curtains are lined, so in the summer, between the shade and the curtain, that should keep the heat out. And I have to replace the actual window as well. I don't know what the previous owners did, but the window is completely warped. I have the seams stuffed with window caulk to keep the drafts out at the moment.

Maybe now I will end up going with the red marbled look behind the bookcase-LOL. It seems to be a theme and the house sure handles the color well.

I like that. You did a nice job tying everything together. The tan lines goes with the furniture a cabinets, while you are bring smaller red pieces, such as the shelf and the flowers into the room to work with the main color of the curtains. They are plush. Whaaaaaa decadence! (That's a line from a movie.)

First thing I thought was, wow- I LOVE that color!! And Kitty in the window makes it look wicked nice!

The NEXT thing I thought was, Hey!! That is a damn cool shoulder holster! Is that BECG's, or HoneyMan? Wonder what they're packing in that?? LOL (On closer inspection, I think its got to be HoneyMan's, your shoulders are tinier than his ;) )

NM-All that red starts working really well from around Thanksgiving all the way through Valentine's Day-LOL. We'll see how it works from Easter on. Heehee

MM-You are too funny. That be Honey's shoulder holster. My .38 is laying in on the counter. It has a holster with a clip-on so I can slide it in my vest pocket and do a reach in. ;-)

Me, I like red although the rooms in my house are too small for something that bold. I would probably never get tired of it regardless of the time of year.

I guess I didn't look close enough to see details like what's hanging over the chair. LOL

Love the curtains , and didn't even notice the holster, and honestly , with guns not being commonplace (esp handguns) in my world I likely wouldn't have known what it was. You ladies are some sharp!

love the curtains! I'm a huge fan of red accents... I have a red accent wall in my living room, red on the bottom half of the walls in my dining room... everything is red accents in the kitchen.... I just can't control myself! lol

The curtains are lovely. I think red goes very well in a dining room. We have red in our dining room curtains too.

Looks real nice! I love my heavy drapes - if I remember to open them on sunny days, they let in so much solar heat. Love the red there.

Did you know the color red encourages salivation and hunger? That is what I have heard anyways.

Good choice for the dining room and I think the house is turning out to be gorgeous. You have definately nailed it on this one.

I love looking at pictures of your decorating! You do such a great job. Someday I will decorate my place, it is somewhat but lacks your finesse..
