No One Seems Real Impressed

I am back to normal folks...Thank you for all of all of the well wishes. With a few snaps, crackles and pops, the chiro has me pretty well fixed up.

I've been keeping an eye on Frosty this winter to make sure he doesn't get as obese as he did last winter and also on the lookout for any of the symptoms of Insulin Resistance. Up to a couple of weeks ago, he had been holding his own pretty well...

But in a very short amount of time, I see he is 'growing' fat globs behind his withers again and his belly is really starting to hang. I was hoping I could have held off starting on him for another month, but that is not the case.

Frosty is now up and starting a conditioning routine...

Lordy, lordy, the boy is soft. I'm starting him out on a mere 10 minutes of walking and trotting and he got a little damper than I anticipated. I wouldn't exactly call it lunging...LOL...More like charging around.

This is just sad...
(Mom, I am so not impressed with this working thing and these tiny blankets make me look ridiculous)

Those are the biggest anything I have. I think they are 80 or 82's. Totally the wrong type of sheet to cool a horse out and the necks are so huge, I had to pull them up as far as I could and pin them to keep his shoulders warm.

I went to town to see if anyone had a cooler and I bought an Irish something or other anti-sweat sheet, but no one had any fleece coolers. Now, it looks like I will have to order a couple of those.

I am getting less impressed with all of the shopping I have had to do lately. Having to update is getting pretty darned expensive.

And last but not least...
Spooks was less than impressed with having babysitting duty today. Everyone else got to come in and have their grain, but he had to wait until this evening. I kid you not...The horse pouted!

Beretta on the other hand...She had a ball playing in the snow in the big pasture. Now that's my kind of horse...a self-exercising one! LOL

Glad you're feeling better!

LOL, I know almost nothing about blankets but even I know that cooler doesn't fit Frosty! Poor pitiful fatty :(

Haha, I'm happy to say all my guys are nice and fit this winter, well until I leave for Oklahoma on Friday. 12 weeks off, they are going to be glad to be rid of me I expect big (shedding) puff balls when I come home.
on the work/sweat ratio, horses do not sweat more or less because they are fit or unfit unlike humans who sweat less when they are more fit. A horse always sweats the same amount and if they aren't sweating it could be a sign of anhydrosis. Had a mare with that once, never liked to work her into a sweat anyway she was miserable and unpredictable and SO FAT she could have fed all of Ethiopia.

Frosty says: Does this blanket make my butt look big? Yes, Frosty could use a little activity. I've been gone from home a month and will be gone about 2 1/2 altogether. ugh - I hate to think what Dudley is going to look like when I get back!!!

Glad to hear your back is better. I always have to recoup after the chiro or else I d

That's definitely not the best fit for Frosty. LOL Coolers have changed so much over the years in both fabrics and contruction. I'm glad I don't have to figure that out. LOL

They look about as amused as my crew. The weather is warming up for a while but the snow is so deep I don't see a whole lot of activity coming up

LOL! He does look pretty put off by the small blanket. Too bad you couldn't do this in summer. You can pick up slightly used blankets on eBay cheap in the summer.

Hmm I love my fleece cooler, especially because it has the high neck. I like them that excersize themselves as well!
