Beretta

Miss Beretta got some luvs from Meg today...
It was time for her second trim. She stood very well again and even let me pull her feet forward to take off a bit of flare here and there and round her toes. Man, is she totally different than Shooter. He was(and is) such a poop-biting, pulling away and just generally being a naughty boy. Beretta just stands up like a little angel. She is so accomadating about things, she is making me a tad nervous.

Meg led her to the round pen with no problem...

And then it was play time...
Meg and I headed out for a little ride ourselves.

Beretta starting to shape up a bit and look like a young lady...

Look how much better she is standing up on those front fetlocks...

There is a marked improvement in her front-end. Her joints are smoothing out and feel pretty normal...
There is a bit of a turn to her right front leg. The knee itself does not face as straight as the left one, but her cannon bone sits squarely under the knee. That's good. With regular and careful trimming, I may be able to bring that entire leg back into line.

Her left hind fetlock looks and feels much smoother as well. The right hind is still thicker and lumpy(Sorry-memory card was full at that point). She is a bit weak in those hind joints., but they don't feel as loose or as weak as they did before. I think there is a lot of improvement yet to be seen. The most important thing will be to keep up with the supplements long after she "looks" normal to make sure those bones end up being as stong and healthy as they can be when she quits growing.

I was going to ask in the comments if Beretta was a bit toed out on the right fore. Then I finished reading. lol
She looks like she's not such a 'little girl' anymore. Any guesses as to how tall she'll be?
Glad to hear her joints are improving :)

She's growing up nicely! You're doing a great job getting her legs/feet in order too.

OH she is just such a wonderful cuttie!! Just like a pocket pony. I would scoop her up in a sec - even with her front (which is looking very good btw).

She's adorable. Ain't it funny how two horses can be so different? She looks good!

What a sweetie! I just love her coloring and markings, she reminds me of the QH mare I owned in my teens. She is really filling out and looking great!

She's such a sweet heart - are you worried she's going to turn into a handful later? Does that happen with the ones that come in as lambs? Do they turn into lions?

Of course you did name her Baretta, which is asking for a kick or two! LOL

She's beautiful.

She's looking really good! I'm sure her legs will straighten in time. My farrier says that's their 'milk stance' with the toes out.

She's such a cutie....love that little muzzle/mouth.....so uncomplicated! I guess I've missed out on your posts about her legs/hoof issues? I don't see a huge problem there? She is quite a looker! Love the first photo of the kisses from Meg. I like her small head. What have you decided about the house? I went back to read older posts about Beretta's legs and saw the post on that great house!
