And Beretta(below) at 20 days...
Shooter was definitely more filled out than Beretta is. But then, his momma has had babies before and milks like a Jersey cow. Beretta is out of a maiden mare, who is milking good, but first time momma's just don't seem to have the same quality of milk. And little Beretta covers a lot more ground in a day than Shooter ever had to too.
Now if those other two humongous old bats(Cowgirl and Honky Tonk) would have their babies, I would really have something to compare her too. Neither one of them looks to be in any hurry to pop out a baby though.
We haven't even turned the stallion out yet this year. The rain, as much as we needed it, prevented me from moving horses around last week and now this week is gone. So, it looks like Pistol will only get one girlfriend to keep him company this year. I like Beretta enough that I am going to go ahead and breed my bay mare, Beauty(who is a 1/2 sister to Chunk, Beretta's mom) and then when(if) she foals next year...I will be done with babies for at least a couple of years.
And my how times flies....I can't believe I forgot Shooter's birthday. My poor baby boy...I'm going to go see him tonight and I'll get some new pictures. He sure don't look like the same colt as when he was a baby.

In those pictures, Shooter has that laid back, cool dude, look, while Beretta looks like she is all fire and ice...lol!!!
Pistol seems to be a good cross with your mares, and I can't wait to see what the next bunch looks like. :)
They do have a lot of the same look! Can't wait to see new Shooter pictures!
Beretta is so darn cute! I am so loving her!
Dang girl, the butts on those colts!!! Huge! Your filly is going to be one big girl! She and Shooter do look a lot a like. I think Beretta just has that filly look to her. A slimmer neck and cute head. But that butt! You guys up there just know how to grow 'em.
They sure do have a nice hip on them!
Isn't the weather fun. Glad to hear you guys haven't gotten socked with anything major either. We've had hail split just west and go around us on each side, and I'm sure not complaining. The rain is good for the hay - and everyone over this way was panicking about the first cutting. About a quarter bales less than last year.
Yes they do look alike!
And I agree with Andrea - nice hips on those horses! Our wacky weather took a turn for the worse last week been wet and wild ever since. Thunder Storms, Wind Storms, and lots of rain. But at least it's more typical for our area than the 90 degree weather we had in May and early June.
Yes they do have quite a resemblence of each other!! Beretta is just one pretty filly!! Still can't wait for the other's!! Come on already mommas!!
Cute babies!!! I sure do love that big blaze.
If you decide you just can't make yourself keep one of those horribly ugly little things let me know. ;)
lol
