Seafoam Green

When Chris bought the Colorado house a couple of years ago, I almost died when I first saw it. My first thought was...cute house...but that color has to go...

It is surprising how fast a couple of years go by. But one of the goals this trip is getting this house painted, a different color. So today, when Chris got home, we got busy getting the house cleaned, so I could start priming and painting...
Finally...
Now really, painting the outside this color should have been bad enough. But Noooooo...the previous owners just had to use the same color inside too.

On the walls, the carpet, the trim...

The ceiling...

And the linolium... It all has to go...eventually. So far, the only rooms that I have gotten done are the master bedroom and bath. Depending on how well the outside goes, I plan on getting the office/3rd bedroom painted too.

Now, one of the big slowdowns has been picking the colors. I am a warm color person and Chris is a cool color person. That makes it very difficult to find colors that we both like. For the inside, we finally settled on a neutral khaki color and the outside...we let the kids pick. I know! How scary is that? Well, actually they did a good job. I resigned myself to a cool tone because of the gray shingles and everyone else liked blues. So a nice blue/gray was picked out and I will get busy on applying that.

Tomorrow, it is back to the horses. The equine chiropractor is scheduled for the morning. I am excited. Finally the geldings have settled down. Tonight was the first time that I haven't been run over either leaving the barn or returning or coming into or out of the round pen. Oh, Nuzzling Muzzles, I feel your pain on having to deal with a horse that hasn't had a lot of exposure to the world. What a pain in the butt!!

At first I thought "what's wrong with the little grey house?"
Then I blew up the pic and saw it was actually a weird greeny colour. (ick)
I think the new colour will be a HUGE improvement!!

Can't wait to see the finished project! My mares have gone into their shitty September heat cycle, so have the crappy attitude symdrome to deal with. I hear ya on getting run over!

At least the house does not have a bunch of other houses crowded around it, so you don't have to pick a color that isn't a copy cat, but won't clash with the others. I'm on a rampage when it comes to horses bargeing ahead or crowding me at the gate or stall door. They are finding a lead rope being smacked against their necks and chests when they do that. It seems to be working. I can even walk my 3-year-old on a loose lead out to pasture and back now. Just a few weeks ago she was dragging me along. Now I've just got to hit those trails with the older horses... Trepidation... Trepidation...

Happy painting! We have a half-white, half-rust-red garage at the moment. Must complete painting one of these days!

I sure do hear you on color compromises - except in our household, I'm the muted color person, and T's the "yeah! It's bright! Let's go for it!" guy. He also likes flat paint.... Grr! Fingerprints do NOT wash off of flat paint.

Looking forward to the chiro account! :)

Hope you get that house all primed and painted! Looks like a big job. The light brown color should be nice. I am with ya on liking browns and deep colors. My whole house is brown and deep red. I can't wait to see the after shots.
