Home Again...

Whew-we are finally home.

What a wonderful, long weekend. Hate to disappoint you all, but I don't have a single picture of the Colorado trip-the reasons being...

Number 1-Megan took the camera to North Dakota with her. Guess what? She didn't take any pictures either.

Number 2-It was an adult weekend for me and the honey. No kids, no schedules. Ahhhh!! The perfect opportunity to throw off the constraints of the "normal" life, throw on my "biker chic" persona and hang with my biker boy. Why do those days seem to fly by?

Of course, 1600 miles, round trip, requires that you spend a lot of time staring out a windshield...

By the time we all got home, this is how we all felt...

Driving most of the trip by myself means that I see all sorts of amusing and amazing things and have no one to share them with.
Some of the things that amazed me:

All of the traffic. I mean, I know it was 4th of July weekend, but it sure didn't look like the price of fuel has slowed too many people down. I saw license plates from Louisiana, Kentucky, Alabama, Tennessee, New Jersey, New York, Minnesota, New Mexico and other states.

Hay! There is hay everywhere.

The number of motorcycles. Not just one or two here and there. Herds of them. I felt like I was in the Black Hills during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

How green Wyoming was! Holy crap-Wyoming in July is usually brown and barren. Not this year-the grass is tall and still green. Oh yea-I made a sort of funky loop this time. I left SD, went the normal way through Nebraska and Colorado, but when I came back, I turned off at Denver and came back through Wyoming. It was a nice change of scenery.

Of course, no trip is complete without the little things that cause amusement:

The people who were driving little economy cars...were all driving 5mph under the speed limit, stayed in their lanes and just eased along. The people still driving the big SUVs-flying by everyone, in and out of lanes, hitting their brakes or stomping on the gas petal. You just have to shake your head.

The lady in the SUV that rode my ASS up Vail Pass, apparently panicking because she was behind a vehicle pulling a trailer(even though I was going the speed limit and passing people), who tried to get around me by dodging in an out of lanes and ended up getting stuck behind a semi, doing 40mph. She wasn't waving with all of her fingers when she finally did pass me-LOL.

The bob-tail semi truck I followed down Vail Pass that had "What was I thinking?" painted on the back of it.

And the thing that made me giggle the most...the number of times I startled myself by looking in the rear view mirror and seeing the hood of another vehicle...right on my butt!
Oh yea...it's the vehicle I was towing----DUH!

Adventures in driving...sounds like fun times. Glad you had a fun and safe trip! I have never taken a road trip a lone, at least, not one that distance. I am glad you saw lots of hay and lots of green. Good signs!

Latigo Liz-I would say. Wow-2400 miles around Montana? That would be awesome.

Pony Girl-Before I had Megan, I used to cruize the country by myself all the time. Now, I find that I miss my co-pilot. A good traveling partner is the BEST thing ever for road-tripping.

Welcome back! Those dogs do look relaxed. Yes it is amazing how some people drive - like gas is free!

Train Wreck-a paper jumbo jet? I DON'T THINK SO! I will be getting that print matted and framed as soon as I can. I am going to have to guard it though-I showed it to my mom and she loves it too.

Patti-Thanks for stopping by. I'll definitely come over and check out your blog.

Flying Lily-Its good to be home. But lots of work to get caught up on-makes me want to take another vacation-LOL.

Glad you had a good trip.
Sometimes when pulling my goose neck, I will glance in the rear view mirror and FREAK out for one half of a second...What is that??!! I'm glad I'm not the only one...
