Shooter

Thats the new boy's name. Well, at least his barn name...
He's a friendly little thing. I like that. He is also a talker. He has the cutest little nicker. When I went in to clean the stall tonight, he started nickering to me and came right up to be petted.
He is a racy looking thing. And look...a single white sock on his front foot. How cool is that?

The boys are awful curious about what is going on in that stall...
It would be in their best interests to stay out of there. Woofer is a good momma. I am not sure either of them would survive her protecting her baby.

Frosty gets to come out to graze in the yard while his foot gets doctored...

His foot is healing well...
I got it all cleaned out and was letting it air dry...the dumb, dumb took a dive at Moon across the fence(for no reason-Moon was minding his own business) and caused it to start bleeding again. I was so surprised...I have never seen him dive at another horse before-he is way to timid. Silly goose-Moon is not a horse to be trifled with. I have no idea what he was thinking. Horses...if you think you know them...wait around a few minutes, they are sure to do something you never thought they would.

He's gorgeous! He is going to be a stunning horse, with a ton of personality - it just pops out of him! Cute name.

The cut looks like such a tough one to keep clean - good luck with that.

He is adorables!!! Heavens he is cute! You too!!! Y'all look so happy :) I am happy for you and I'm glad mama came thru it fine. She sure was a BIG girl there. Wow.
I am still alive down here, but missed all this cause I've been hovering over one of my mares who's coliced now for 5 days. Not much but maybe a few nuggets of poop. Started Sun morn, off her feed. Gave some Banamine as a precaution, Mon at noon she went full colicy. I ran her in, had her tubed, rectal, bloodwork.. Been fighting ever since. Gone thru some serious banamine. She's still uncomfortable, but eating a little and drinking a little. Heart rate is down (it was in the mid 50's, but she's an excitable lil thing anyway, not surprising) hydration is good, better than it was. She's on her feet. But still not out of the woods and still not pooping.
I've been to the vet's with her 3 times, and yesterday I had him out to put her down, thinking she was a goner. But no, she rallied between the time I called and the time he got here.
I'm considering giving her coffee as a laxative. Actually, I think she has stone in an uncomfortable place and it's wreaking havoc on her guts. She's got good gut sounds, at first the vet said they were "crazy" gut sounds, next day they were ok, next day there were none (that freaked me out, thought it was time) and then they're back and sound good. I am so at a loss with this colic.
Doc said the longest he's seen them go and turn it around was 7 days. So hmmmm.

Wade left this morning to go get the mustang in NV, so I'm solo for a few days. Just sittin here, watchin the horse :)

Didn't mean to go off on a tangent. Shooter is adorable and CONGRATULATIONS!!

What a BEAUTY! I am so jealous. I want a foal so badly but do not have the time now. Perhaps in the future.
